Job Opportunities
The West Suburban Special Recreation Association (WSSRA) is a cooperative extension of nine park districts and two villages. WSSRA was formed in 1976 to coordinate year round recreational activities for individuals with disabilities

Seasonal Programs
As a Recreation Leader you will be able to make a difference in someone's life through fun and meaningful program activities. Recreation Leader positions are available on a seasonal part-time basis. Programs are held Monday through Saturday with flexible morning, afternoon, and evening hours. Summer positions are also available in our Day Camp program.

Special Events
These one-time events are held annually, raising funds to support WSSRA. This opportunity is ideal for someone who cannot commit to working every week.

Inclusion Partners
You are responsible for assisting individuals with disabilities who chose to participate in park district and recreation department programs. Partners encourage peer interaction between people with and without disabilities. Hours are flexible.

Internships
WSSRA an ideal agency to complete your internship. You will have a variety of experiences that may guide you to a specific career.

Volunteer Experience
In addition to paid positions, WSSRA offers you the opportunity to volunteer and make a difference.

Training
All staff and volunteers receive training prior to participation in a program. Orientations are held throughout the year, and teach program adaptations and disability awareness. We will review policies, procedures and staff expectations.

Things You Should Know
Involvement in WSSRA programs requires enthusiasm, patience, and commitment. You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the program sites. You must be 16 years or older for paid employment. Individuals under 16 years of age are encouraged to volunteer with parent approval.
