Come on out and help WSSRA make a big SPLASH! All WSSRA families are invited to run/walk in this 5K fun event. Thanks to the River Forest Park District & race sponsors WSSRA will once again receive the net proceeds from the Makin’ Tracks event. Each WSSRA family must have one person pre-registered for the race which costs $25.00. Additional family members are FREE.

Race registrants can register:

1. In person at the River Forest Park District office, 401 Thatcher Ave, River Forest

Family Members who plan to come FREE must call WSSRA at 847-455-2100.

Wear whatever WSSRA attire you have. WSSRA will bring additional items.

Stop by the WSSRA booth on the Concordia Track before the race to check in.

WSSRA will take a group picture at 7:50 am.

New this year is a wheel chair division and Fun Dash held after the official run/walk. Call WSSRA 847-455-2100 for more information. Special handicapped parking will be available south of the track.

West Suburban Special Recreation Association (WSSRA) is hosting the annual Fun in the Sun competition. This competition encourages patrons of local businesses to help send a kid to day camp by donating a dollar. Contributors are encouraged to write their name on a colorful kid cut out and post it on a wall.

Establishments in Berwyn, Forest Park, Franklin Park, Oak Park, River Grove, Cicero, Elmwood Park and Harwood Heights are joining the challenge in 2010.

A “Mini” Wacky Quacky Duck Splash will be held. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Each attendee will be assigned a duck number upon their arrival. Our cute little rubber ducks will be sent down the water slide into a chute. The top 5 finishers will win a duck to be entered into the Wacky Quacky Duck Splash on Saturday, July 17, 2010.

Don’t like to swim? Don’t want to be seen in a swimsuit? Come socialize & meet other families.

If it looks like rain, call 847.455.2100 x236 after 7:30 p.m. If we cancel due to inclement weather our rain date is Tuesday, July 20.

This is a family event. All children/teens must attend with an adult.

No RSVP required.

WSSRA’s 2010 Summer Day Camp is designed for participants ages 3-22, who have a disability and/or receive special education services.

WSSRA offers different day camps according to age and ability groups. Camp provides age-appropriate recreational activities while achieving these goals:

• To involve your child in fun recreational opportunities.
• To improve your child’s motor skills and overall fitness.
• To encourage an environment where your child can succeed and build self-esteem.
• To help your child maintain & increase language and self-expression skills.
