Bears Party Postponed!

West Suburban Special Recreation Foundation (WSSRF) announces that the scheduled November 13 Bears Fundraiser has been postponed until Sunday, December 4, 2011 because the NFL changed the game schedule. The public continues to be invited this annual event now scheduled for December 4 at “Jimmy’s Place”.

WSSRF will host a Bears vs. the Kansas City Chiefs Party on Sunday, December 14, 2011, at "Jimmy's Place", 7411 Madison, Forest Park. The scheduled game time and start of the party is at noon. The public is invited to this annual sport themed event. Tickets are $25.00 a person ($13 a ticket is tax deductible) and include antipasto salad, pasta with sauce pizza, soft drinks, coffee and dessert. Raffles, a mini-auction and cash bar will add to the fun of cheering the Chicago Bears on toward victory over the Detroit Lions! Proceeds benefit children with disabilities who participate in West Suburban Special Recreation Association programs.

"The WSSRA parent foundation raises funds to provide scholarships and additional staff for the WSSRA summer day camp programs. Each summer, WSSRA serves over 180 campers at 8 or 9 locations. Day camp offers 6 hours a day, five days a week of summer-time fun. During our 6 week camp, children develop language and motor skills; build friendships, practice problem- solving and feel successful while having a lot of fun. Many of the children need close supervision because their impairments limit their self -care skills and attention spans. Some of our campers have seizure disorders, autism, developmental disabilities and behavior concerns. Trained camp staff is a necessity. WSSRA even provides one to one supervision when needed. The “Bears vs. the Lions” fundraiser was designed to bring in additional funds to serve even more children in the WSSRA day camp program. The demand for camp increases each year," said Sherry Scouffas, WSSRA Outreach Specialist.

Call WSSRA at 847-455-2100 to reserve a ticket. Tickets are held at the door for those who reserve a ticket by phone and pay with a credit card. The public is invited to have fun while raising funds for WSSRA. This event’s chairperson is a parent of a WSSRA participant, John Mullins of Oak Park. Come join the fun!
