| Nancy Knudson won top prize as WSSRF’s top Bowlathon fundraiser. Her friend, Mary Schutz, came in second. Thanks for all your hard work, ladies! |
The pins were flying at the West Suburban Special Recreation Foundation’s Bowlathon on November 22. The annual event, held at Circle Bowl in Forest Park, was the site of some very intense, but always friendly, competition.
The bowlers were vying for the top WSSRA adult & child bowler prizes. After three games, the scores were tallied and the results announced. Patrick Milburn won as the top WSSRA adult bowler! Ray Quirk came in second. The top WSSRA child bowler was Paul Ivery. High fives were exchanged all around, but the excitement was not over!
The crowd waited anxiously for an even more coveted prize, the top Bowlathon “fundraiser”. While everyone attending the Bowlathon has great fun bowling, socializing, enjoying the snack bar & playing the raffle, they knew the main purpose of the event was to raise funds for the West Suburban Special Recreation Association‘s programs. The participants benefit from WSSRA’s quality recreation opportunities, so they were excited to see just who brought in the most dollars.
Finally, the winners were announced: Nancy Knudson, who collected over $500 for WSSRA, won the top fundraiser prize. Mary Schutz came in second. She raised over $300. The crowd cheered knowing how hard the ladies worked for those dollars. They knew the Bowlathon had been a terrific success-- raising almost $3,000 for WSSRA!
The West Suburban Special Recreation Foundation’s chairperson, Margaret O’Rourke, expressed everyone’s feelings, “the Bowlathon is one of the best events the Foundation sponsors because participants, siblings and family members have so much fun and the results, bringing in dollars for WSSRA, are remarkable! WSSRF looks forward to next year!” |
